Founded in 2017 by Meghan O’Connell, Green Urb Garden’s services include Garden Design, Plant Installation, Landscaping and Horticultural Maintenance. Position Summary
The Landscaper will report to the on-site Lead Gardener, and will use horticultural skills/knowledge to enhance each client’s garden in the most effective way.
The position is based in Watertown, MA with daily travel to our gardens throughout the area including: Brighton, Newton, Belmont, Cambridge, Lexington and Arlington. You must either have a car to use for this job or be able to meet in Watertown to carpool in the company truck daily. Position benefits, including vacation time and paid educational opportunities, vary depending on experience level.

This is a full-time, seasonal position: hours vary from 30-40 hours per week. The work season begins in mid-March/early April and ends at the start of December.

Major Responsibilities

  • Development in and use of horticultural skills: hand-weeding, hand-pruning shrubs and small trees, hauling mulch/compost/soil, planting, fertilizing, and controlling for pests/diseases.
  • Work closely/collaborate with the company Manager and other Gardeners
  • Develop and implement leadership abilities: use learned skills to solve problems as they arise
  • Assist in creating and planting brand new gardens for clients that also help local wildlife and pollinators thrive
  • Contribute to company culture of environmentalism and respect for all
  • Be physically able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in hot, cold, or wet conditions
  • Be open to giving and receiving feedback to/from the company Manager
  • Position can also include Garden Design, if candidate has design knowledge and skills
